Perfect World Executives Detained for Bribery

Perfect World, a Chinese gaming company, announced on January 15 that three of its art-related personnel were suspected of corruption and had been detained by the police.

Honestly, the company had been investigating several cases of employees and suppliers colluding, embezzling, and damaging the company’s interests since 2025. After receiving multiple tips, they further investigated and confirmed that some employees and suppliers had committed crimes.

Here’s the deal, the problem was mainly with the outsourcing of art and procurement management. The suspects were from Qingyun Studio and Lingxiao Studio.

One of the employees, Diao XX, was the art director of Qingyun Studio’s “New Xianxia World” project. During his tenure, he allegedly used his position to inflate procurement prices and accept bribes from suppliers. Perfect World fired him and banned him from ever working for the company again.

Two other suspects, Song XX and Wang XX, were from Lingxiao Studio and had already left the company in August 2024. Song XX was the action group leader of Lingxiao Studio’s “Perfect New World” project. He allegedly used his position to inflate procurement prices, issued procurement contracts to people close to him, and accepted bribes from suppliers.

Wang XX was the art director of Lingxiao Studio’s “Perfect New World” project. He allegedly used his position to introduce unqualified suppliers, encouraged suppliers to fake procurement prices, and accepted large bribes from suppliers.

Both Song XX and Wang XX were detained by the police.

Perfect World had previously launched several anti-corruption campaigns. In July 2025, the company announced that several employees, including the head of Baiwan Studio, the planning department head, and the HR manager, were suspected of corruption.

In August 2024, Perfect World also announced that several employees, including the art director of Xingyun Studio and the production team leader of the original Bard game project, were suspected of corruption.

According to Perfect World’s third-quarter report in 2025, the company’s revenue was 17.26 billion yuan, up 31.45% year-on-year, and its net profit was 1.62 billion yuan, up 176.59% year-on-year.

As of January 15, Perfect World’s stock price fell 0.16% to 18.38 yuan per share, with a market value of 356.57 billion yuan.
