You finally log off from work, survive the entire week, boot up the PS5 on a Saturday to play some Call of Duty, and… nothing. The servers are completely cooked.

If you are staring at a network error screen right now, just know you aren’t crazy and it’s not your Wi-Fi. The PlayStation Network is currently suffering a massive, global outage, and the entire internet is throwing a collective tantrum about it.
I just pulled up the latest reports, and here is exactly what is going on.
The Damage Report
Downdetector is looking like a horror movie right now. The spike hit over 13,000 outage reports almost instantly, and it’s affecting both PS4 and PS5 users across the board.
Here is what is currently broken:
Multiplayer is dead: Good luck trying to get into a lobby in CoD, Battlefield, or literally anything else.
Account log-ins are failing: Some people are getting entirely booted from their profiles and locked in offline mode.
The “Free-to-Play” Irony: The funniest/saddest part of this is the Overwatch 2 players losing their minds on Twitter. OW2 is free-to-play and doesn’t technically require a PS Plus subscription, but because the foundational PSN servers are down, nobody can even log into the game.
What is Sony saying?
Sony finally updated their official network status page. They hit us with the classic corporate boilerplate: “You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
Translation: The servers are on fire, we don’t have an ETA for the fix, please stop yelling at our support accounts.
There is literally nothing you can do on your end to fix this. Restarting your router won’t help. Rebuilding your database won’t help. You are entirely at the mercy of Sony’s server engineers right now.
If you have a backlog of physical single-player games, now is the time to pop a disc in. Otherwise, we are all just going to have to go outside and touch grass for a few hours.
Would you like me to keep an eye on the official PlayStation Network status page and give you an update when the servers actually come back online?
