On May 9, Chinese media company Hangzhou Wuyou Media Co., Ltd. released a statement regarding the health status of one of its signed artists, Wang Nuan. The company stated that it strongly opposes any form of workplace bullying and mental control, and has suspended Wang’s work to focus on her medical and psychological recovery.

Wuyou Media’s statement

According to the statement, Wang’s recent health issues and related controversy were caused by a misunderstanding after a video of her talking about her work status was edited and shared online. Since Wang’s health issues began, the company has arranged for her to receive medical attention and has sent representatives to visit her. Wang is currently undergoing treatment and her work schedule will be adjusted based on her physical condition and personal wishes.

On May 8, Wang posted a video on her social media platform, revealing that she had been hospitalized again due to her health issues. She expressed her fear and anxiety, saying that she was too scared to sleep and was being treated for her condition.

Later that day, Wang gave an interview to a journalist, stating that she had fainted while filming a video on May 7 and was rushed to the hospital. She believes that her health issues are caused by overwork and long-term stress, rather than any underlying medical condition.

Wang revealed that she had been working non-stop for years, with over 220 live streams in 2025 alone. She often worked over 12 hours a day, starting at 5 am, and had to rely on painkillers to cope with the physical strain. She also accused her company of bullying and mentally controlling her, forcing her to work long hours without rest.

Wang Nuan’s live stream

On May 9, Wang went live on her social media platform from her hospital bed, further addressing her work-related struggles. She emphasized that she couldn’t work to the point of exhaustion and that her life was more valuable than her job. Wang also revealed that she was often forced to follow a script during her live streams, which made her feel uncomfortable and anxious.

Wang also criticized her company’s strict evaluation system, which required her to gain a certain number of followers and likes during each live stream. She felt that this was a form of “kidnapping” and that she was being forced to perform in a way that wasn’t genuine. Wang’s account has lost over 15,000 followers in the past month, and her sales have decreased significantly.

Wang gained widespread attention in 2019 after being pushed off a cliff by her husband in Thailand. She signed with Wuyou Media in 2023 and has been working with the company ever since. Wuyou Media is a well-known internet-based talent agency with many popular influencers and artists under its management.
