Honestly, the news just dropped that on January 20th, at 0:00, miHoYo announced the closure of the data transfer service for the Xiaomi server accounts of Genshin Impact. This means that players who haven’t completed the transfer will have their account data permanently locked.

Here’s the deal, due to the strategic adjustment of the cooperation between Genshin Impact and Xiaomi, the Xiaomi server was shut down on January 20th, 2025. The data transfer service was launched on November 20th, 2024, and the recharge entrance and new user registration for the Xiaomi server were closed at the same time.

After the shutdown of the Xiaomi server, only the transfer channel was left for players to transfer their data to the official Sky Island server. According to miHoYo, the transfer can retain the player’s character level, artifacts, and other core assets. Players need to operate through the Xiaomi app store version client.

It’s worth noting that on December 22nd last year, the official announcement of NetEase’s mobile game “Egg Party” stated that due to the adjustment of the cooperation strategy with Xiaomi, the Xiaomi channel version of the game will terminate operation on February 23rd, 2026, at 15:00, and the role asset recovery service has been launched.

The announcement of “Egg Party” mentioned that on December 22nd, 2025, at 10:00, the game’s download entrance on the Xiaomi platform will be closed, and players will not be able to download the game, and the game recharge and new user registration will be stopped. After the game is officially shut down on the Xiaomi platform, players will not be able to log in to the game through the Xiaomi port.

The “Egg Party” side emphasized that after completing the role asset recovery, players can log in to the game with the NetEase account bound during the recovery, and all role data, including appearance, friends, and rainbow coins, will be retained.

Genshin Impact is a 3D open-world action role-playing game developed and published by miHoYo, supporting PC, iOS/Android, PlayStation, and Xbox, with a focus on fantasy world exploration, elemental battles, and character cultivation. “Egg Party” is a trendy 3D casual competitive mobile game developed by NetEase. According to Sensor Tower data, in the December 2025 China App Store mobile game revenue ranking, Genshin Impact ranked 14th, and “Egg Party” did not enter the top 20.

The two popular games have adjusted their channel strategies, reflecting the structural changes in the industry ecology – the mobile channel versions that used to be able to “lie down and earn” are now facing the impact of new platforms such as Douyin and Bilibili.

In 2021, NetEase founder Ding Lei publicly questioned the high commission mode of Android channels in a financial report conference call: “Overseas is only 30%, Android manufacturers have no reason to divide 50%, which is very unfavorable to the industry ecology.” He said, “China’s Android commission is the most expensive, up to 50%, which is unreasonable.”

Last year, NetEase’s multiple popular mobile games successively withdrew from the OPPO channel, such as “Fantasy Westward Journey”, “Genshin Impact”, and “Journey to the West”. Players also need to transfer their accounts and assets within a limited time. In addition, miHoYo’s “Genshin Impact” and Lilith’s “Awakening of Nations” are no longer available on major domestic Android app stores.

Some analysts point out that as the game’s boutique process accelerates, manufacturers are more inclined to establish direct user connections through official servers, and the traditional high-commission channel model is gradually disintegrating.
