Google Parent Alphabet Plans Up to $25 Billion Bond Issuance
August 6 – Reports indicate that Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is planning to raise up to $25 billion through its latest U.S. dollar investment-grade bond offering. This move comes after the company raised its 2026 capital expenditure forecast, which previously triggered a selloff in AI-related debt assets. This bond sale will directly test investors’ appetite for absorbing supply.
It’s understood that Alphabet’s proposed bond offering could be divided into up to 10 tranches, with maturities ranging from 2 to 40 years. For the longest 40-year tranche, the initial price talk suggests a yield of approximately 1.55 percentage points above comparable U.S. Treasury yields.
Apple Event Preview: First Foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro Series Take Center Stage

The Apple fall new product event, slated for early September, marks the first major hardware showcase for the company’s new CEO, John Ternus, following his succession of Tim Cook. This event could rewrite the iPhone launch rhythm that has persisted for over a decade. The foldable iPhone and the next-generation Pro models are set to make their debut together. The market is closely watching Apple’s ability to break new ground in both AI integration and hardware form factors.
The most anticipated product of the entire event, for both the industry and consumers alike, is Apple’s first-ever foldable screen phone, rumored to be named the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold. Android competitors have been developing foldable devices for years, and Apple’s delayed entry has only heightened the market’s long-standing anticipation for this product.
TSMC’s N2 Process Has Ample Capacity, but DRAM Shortage Puts Pressure on Apple iPhone 18 Stocking
August 6 – Independent tech journalist Tim Culpan reports that with only weeks to go before the launch of Apple’s iPhone 18 series and the foldable iPhone Ultra, TSMC’s N2 process is producing A20 Pro processor wafers with good yields and ample capacity. However, a severe shortage in DRAM memory supply is preventing the completed processor wafers from proceeding to subsequent packaging stages. This has led to inventory buildup and is putting pressure on Apple and its supply chain partners’ stocking efforts.
Culpan notes that Apple and its supply chain assemblers are urgently seeking additional mobile DRAM chip supplies. Apple currently relies primarily on Micron Technology for DRAM, while also sourcing from SK Hynix and Samsung. Culpan adds that TSMC’s N2 process is not the bottleneck affecting iPhone shipments, as A20 Pro processor production is essentially ready to go.
SoftBank’s Quarterly Results Beat Expectations, Intel Investment Nets a Massive $8.5 Billion Gain
On August 6, SoftBank Group reported a smaller-than-expected decline in quarterly net profit, buoyed by substantial gains from its stake in Intel, even as the market keeps a close watch on its massive bet on OpenAI.
In the quarter ending in June, SoftBank recorded an investment gain of 1.3 trillion yen (approximately $8.5 billion) from its Intel holdings. Intel’s share price surged 216% during that quarter. SoftBank invested $2 billion in Intel stock at $23 per share last year. This gain partially offset the impact of slowing valuation growth at OpenAI and a decline in the value of its Vision Fund portfolio.
SoftBank’s net profit fell 18% year-on-year to 347.3 billion yen, still beating market expectations.
