Tencent’s Q2 Gaming Revenue Back to Double-Digit Growth

On August 12, Tencent Holdings released its Q2 2026 earnings report. Total online gaming revenue reached 65.9 billion yuan, up 11% year-over-year, marking a return to double-digit growth overall. Domestic market revenue hit 47.3 billion yuan, a 17% increase year-over-year. The growth engine came from four core titles: Delta Force, VALORANT, VALORANT: Energy Action, and 洛克王国:世界. Notably, both Delta Force and VALORANT set all-time highs for average daily active users during the quarter. International market revenue reached 18.6 billion yuan, up 4% year-over-year at constant exchange rates, driven primarily by Wuthering Waves and VALORANT.

Honor’s First Robot Phone Priced from 9,999 Yuan

On August 12, Honor officially launched the world’s first robot phone—the Robot Phone—in Shenzhen. Breaking away from the traditional candy-bar smartphone form factor, the device features a titanium-alloy gimbal system, ARRI cinematic imaging, and a system-level AI architecture. It enables new experiences like gimbal interactions and YOYO dancing to the rhythm of music.

Pre-orders for the Robot Phone are now open, starting at 9,999 yuan, with the official sale kicking off at 10:08 AM on August 18. The 16GB + 1TB variant is priced at 12,999 yuan. Honor CEO Li Jian revealed during the launch event that pre-orders have already surpassed 400,000 units.

Fake Government App Spotted on Apple’s App Store; Officials Respond: Coordinating Resolution

Recently, a counterfeit version of Fujian’s unified government service app (commonly known as the “闽政通APP”) surfaced on the Apple App Store, sparking online concern. Upon inspection, the fake app is named “闽证通” and still labels itself as a “government convenience service application” on its download page. So far, this app has only been found on the Apple App Store, and searches across multiple Android phone brand app stores turned up nothing.

According to a report from Xinhuanghe, the official team behind 闽政通APP responded, stating they’ve escalated the matter to the relevant authorities, who are now coordinating a resolution. In the meantime, citizens can also report the app directly through the Apple App Store.

Tencent Holdings: Q2 Combined Monthly Active Users of WeChat and WeChat Hit 1.439 Billion

On August 12, Tencent Holdings disclosed in its earnings report that in Q2 2026, the combined monthly active users (MAU) of WeChat and WeChat reached 1.439 billion, up 2% year-over-year and 0.5% quarter-over-quarter. QQ’s mobile MAU stood at 520 million, down 2% year-over-year but up 0.8% quarter-over-quarter. Subscribers to fee-based value-added services held steady at 259 million, down 2% year-over-year and 3% quarter-over-quarter.

MiHoYo’s “New Title” Shuts Down Less Than a Month After Launch

On August 11, MiHoYo announced that its Steam early-access AI companion product, BSide: Olivia Lin (林离), would cease online operations. The product, which entered early access on July 13, had a live-service lifespan of less than a month. The company will provide an offline version to preserve local functionality as a wrap-up. Just a month earlier, AnuNeko (AI 猫娘), an AI companion product from Anuttacon—founded by MiHoYo co-founder Cai Haoyu—was also permanently shut down. Both anime-style AI companion pilot projects have now come to an end in quick succession.

Report: YMTC Breaks into Global Top Three for NAND Flash Shipments in Q2

On August 12, according to Counterpoint Research’s latest Q2 2026 memory and storage market tracker, Samsung led with a 25% shipment share, followed by SK Hynix at 22%. YMTC (Yangtze Memory Technologies) jumped to third place for the first time with a 14% share, slightly edging out Kioxia, while Micron ranked fifth. Despite ranking third in shipments for the quarter, YMTC placed fifth in revenue, trailing Micron and Kioxia. This gap is attributed to its product mix, which remains concentrated in consumer-grade applications, with a relatively lower share of high-priced data-center enterprise SSDs.

Hon Hai Invests NT$1 Billion in Land, Plans Optical Communications and Ultra-Precision Mold Business

On the evening of August 12, Hon Hai (Foxconn) held a major announcement briefing, revealing that its board had approved the purchase of land and above-ground structures on Zhongshan Road in Tucheng District, New Taipei City, from Xin Hong International Investment for NT$1 billion. The acquisition is part of a strategic plan to develop businesses in optical communications, ultra-precision molds, and precision molding. Hon Hai noted that the seller, Xin Hong International Investment, is led by Guo Taiqiang, who has a blood relationship with Hon Hai’s major shareholder Guo Taiming (Terry Gou). As such, the transaction is classified as a related-party transaction under applicable regulations.

Supermicro Q4 Net Sales Hit $11.1 Billion, Nearly Doubling Year-Over-Year

Supermicro reported Q4 net sales of $11.1 billion on August 11, compared to $5.8 billion in the same period last year. Non-GAAP diluted net earnings per share came in at $1.70, versus $0.41 a year ago. Full fiscal year net sales reached $39.1 billion, up from $22 billion in the prior fiscal year.

Supermicro expects Q1 of fiscal 2027 net sales to land between $14.5 billion and $15.5 billion.
