Apple’s Partnership with OpenAI Hits a Snag, Lawsuit Looms

May 15th saw reports that Apple’s two-year collaboration with OpenAI has hit a roadblock. OpenAI, which had expected to reap significant benefits from the partnership, is now considering taking legal action. The company had hoped that integrating ChatGPT into Apple’s software would boost user subscriptions and lead to deeper integration in more Apple apps, with OpenAI’s products taking center stage in Siri. However, the tech giant’s operating system has limited adoption of OpenAI’s technology, making it hard for users to discover related features.

Tencent Maps Rolls Out Rider Mode

On May 15th, Tencent Maps announced the launch of its Rider Mode, a professional navigation service designed for food delivery, courier, and other delivery platforms. Leveraging massive bike trajectory data, AI route planning models, and precise POI positioning, Tencent claims the mode can plan more efficient and safer routes, supporting features like indoor navigation, direct access to buildings, and gate reminders.

Baidu Establishes Model Committee to Boost AI Advantages

According to reports on May 15th, Baidu has set up the Baidu Model Committee (BMC), comprising young researchers with in-depth understanding of large models. The committee will oversee the Basic Model Research and Development Department (BMU) and the Applied Model Research and Development Department (AMU). This move is expected to help Baidu concentrate its resources and further strengthen its AI technology advantages.

Honor CEO Announces Robot Phone Launch in Q3

During the Cannes Film Festival, Honor CEO Li Jian announced that the Honor Robot Phone will be officially released in the third quarter of this year. The phone is equipped with a self-developed, industry-smallest 4DoF cloud platform system. Earlier, Honor had announced a partnership with German company ARRI to bring film-grade color science to mobile imaging.

Anthropic Agrees to $90 Billion Valuation for Funding Round

Reports on May 15th revealed that Anthropic has agreed to a $90 billion valuation for its funding round. Investors Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia Capital, and Altimeter Capital have agreed to co-lead the funding round, with each investing $20 billion or more. Anthropic is in talks with other investors to secure the remaining funds, and terms may change before the deal is officially announced. The company’s annualized revenue is expected to soon exceed $45 billion.

Alibaba Releases Qoder 1.0

On May 15th, Alibaba released Qoder 1.0, upgrading its AI IDE to an intelligent autonomous development workstation. Users only need to focus on defining requirements, and the Agent team will autonomously complete execution, verification, and delivery of tasks. Qoder 1.0 is currently available for download on Windows, macOS, and Linux systems.

Qianwen App Partners with National Medical Products Administration

Qianwen App has officially partnered with the National Medical Products Administration’s Information Center, integrating millions of pieces of data on pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and medical devices. Qianwen is currently working with the Information Center to “digest” the data and synchronize updates.

Fanuc Deepens Partnership with NVIDIA to Accelerate Robot Development

Fanuc announced on May 15th that it will strengthen its strategic partnership with NVIDIA, leveraging the latest AI technologies to enhance its industrial automation products. Under the agreement, Fanuc will utilize NVIDIA’s Isaac robot platform and computing capabilities to accelerate the development of next-generation autonomous mobile robots and collaborative robots capable of complex task learning.
