Foxconn Races to Hire Workers for iPhone 18 Production

With Apple’s fall launch event just around the corner, Foxconn is pulling out all the stops to beef up its workforce. The company is offering sign-on bonuses of up to 7,800 yuan, and job boards are plastered with “urgent hiring” tags across multiple recruitment platforms.

According to a report by Hongxing News on August 20, Foxconn factories are in peak hiring season as new Apple products are about to hit the market. A WeChat Moments post from a Shenzhen Foxconn HR staffer revealed that hourly wages have climbed from 25 yuan/hour on July 24 to 26 yuan/hour as of today.

The more conservative incentive push this year could be tied to a shift in Apple’s fall release rhythm. Citing public information, Minnan News reports that Apple is expected to hold its fall special event on September 9, breaking the nearly 20-year tradition of launching the full lineup at once. Instead, the company will only roll out the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone, while the standard iPhone 18 gets pushed to spring 2027.
