Siri Upgrade Delay Costs Apple $2.5 Billion

According to CCTV Finance, multiple foreign media outlets reported that Apple has reached a settlement in a class-action lawsuit, agreeing to pay $2.5 billion (approximately 17 billion yuan) in damages. Reports claim that Apple announced plans to upgrade Siri’s AI capabilities at its 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference, promising new features would be released in the fall alongside new iPhone models. However, these features were not included in the iPhone 16 series when it launched. Plaintiffs alleged that Apple’s advertising was misleading, as the features did not exist at the time and were not feasible in the short term. Apple’s new Siri features are now expected to debut in June at its Worldwide Developers Conference.
