Ex-OpenAI Chief Scientist’s AI Startup SSI Scores Nvidia Investment, Announces Long-Term Partnership
On July 27, Nvidia and Safe Superintelligence (SSI)—the AI startup founded by former OpenAI chief scientist and co-founder Ilya Sutskever—announced a long-term partnership aimed at speeding up SSI’s strategic growth, with an investment from Nvidia.
The statement says that the Nvidia investment and access to the next-gen Vera Rubin platform will boost SSI’s computing power by an order of magnitude. The two companies will also team up to advance the tech behind Nvidia’s current and future computing platforms.

HSBC to Set Up Global AI Center of Excellence in Singapore, Hiring Over 100 AI Experts
HSBC announced on July 27 that it will launch a global AI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Singapore in the second half of this year. The center aims to develop AI capabilities that can scale across the group’s global network, and plans to hire over 100 AI specialists.
According to the statement, the CoE will initially focus on enhancing customer wealth management experiences, rolling out intelligent treasury solutions, and developing AI-powered digital payments.
Nvidia in Talks to Provide $250 Billion Guarantee for OpenAI’s Data Center Hub
On July 26, local time, sources reported that Nvidia is in discussions to offer roughly $250 billion in guarantees to help OpenAI lease computing power from a massive data center project. The deal would reportedly help OpenAI lease space from the 10-gigawatt data center hub SoftBank is developing in Ohio. SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son has said the project could cost up to about $500 billion.
Nvidia Gets 4.5% Stake in NAVER with $1 Billion Investment
On July 27, news broke that, as per a previously announced $1 billion strategic investment deal, Nvidia will acquire a 4.5% stake in NAVER. Recently, NAVER, Brookfield, and Nvidia unveiled an expansion plan for a Korean autonomous AI factory infrastructure. The plan is to scale up the initial deployment of Nvidia’s DSX AI factory at GAK Sejong Data Center from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts by 2028. Under the terms of the agreement, Nvidia will invest $1 billion in NAVER.
