Stop what you are doing. Put down the spreadsheets. Tell your boss you have a “family emergency” (the emergency is Democracy).
The Battle for Cyberstan has officially started.
After months of getting our teeth kicked in at Malevelon Creek (RIP to the real ones) and pushing back the Automaton menace, we are finally knocking on their front door. Arrowhead just flipped the switch, and the invasion of the Cyborg/Bot home world is live.
But here is the part that actually has me sweating: They aren’t stopping there.
Arrowhead is “Expanding the Scope” (What does that even mean?!)
According to the new interview from IGN, the devs are saying this battle is just the beginning of a “scope expansion.”
Let’s read between the lines here.
-
Best Case: We get vehicles. Like, actual tanks and APCs to run over the bots.
-
Worst Case (and most likely): The Illuminates are coming.
You know, the third faction from the first game? The ones with the squids and the shields that make you want to throw your controller? If Arrowhead is talking about “expanding the scope” right as we attack Cyberstan, it feels like a trap. A beautiful, terrifying trap.
The “Joel” Factor
We all know Joel (the Game Master) is watching us. He’s probably sitting in his office with a glass of wine, waiting for us to commit 90% of the player base to Cyberstan before he drops a surprise attack on Super Earth.
The fact that they are hyping this up so much makes me nervous. It feels like the calm before a massive storm.
If you haven’t played in a while, log in. The atmosphere on Cyberstan is insane. It’s snowy, it’s industrial, and there are red lasers everywhere.
Grab your railgun. Hug your squad. We are going to Cyberstan, and we are probably not coming back.
Diving in 5 minutes. For Super Earth!
